Vampire bats

Only 3 of 1240 bat species are vampires but fear and misinformation about bats is a significant problem - especially since hundreds of species are either endangered or threatened with extinction. An all too typical episode occurred on the campus of Texas Southern University, where the only thing worse than the action of the students was the reaction of the Press to the incident.  For Dr. Bill Schutt's take on this ugly and unfortunate episode, please see the "News, etc." section of this website.
